E. David Irwin is a founding member of the firm and has over 40 years experience in various areas of the law which include: real estate; corporate; trusts and estates; intellectual property and general business law. Mr. Irwin is a former Deputy Town Attorney for the Town of Eastchester.

 

Mr. Irwin is knowledgeable about many areas of the law and is well suited to advise clients regarding complex legal matters. He currently is, and has been counsel to condominium and cooperative boards as well as corporations and other business entities, and he has acted as counsel in many acquisitions and sales of business entities and professional practices.

 

Mr. Irwin received his J.D. from Columbia Law School in 1968 and his B.A. from Columbia University in 1965. He is admitted to practice law in the state and federal courts of New York.

Stephen Lewin became a member of the firm in 1984 and has been practicing law for over 30 years. Mr. Lewin specializes in family law, trusts and estates, and real estate law.

 

Mr. Lewin maintains a specialty in the area of domestic and inter-country adoption law. He has represented individuals and couples in private and agency domestic and inter-country adoptions. His experience in this area enables him to expertly and compassionately guide clients through the diverse concerns, procedures and issues that arise in these emotionally-charged matters.

 

Domestic adoptions often include interstate proceedings which require Mr. Lewin to work with attorneysand government agencies in both New York and other states. Inter-country adoption cases (both covered and not covered by The Hague Convention) deal with the emigration of adopted or adoptive children to the United States. As a result, Mr. Lewin regularly deals with (a) counsel, government agencies and courts in other countries, (b) the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (“USCIS”), (c) the United States Department of State (“USDOS”) including embassies around the world, and (d) child-placing agencies in the United States and abroad. Mr. Lewin also handles (a) appeals of decisions issued by the USCIS and USDOS and (b) Special Immigrant Juvenile applications and proceedings.

 

Mr. Lewin is a founding member of the American Academy of Adoption Attorneys.  He served as a past Co-Chair of the Academy’s Inter-country Adoption Committee as well as a member of the Legislative Committee and Hague Convention Committee. He has (a) been a member of the faculty of continuing legal education programs in New York and (b) appeared at programs and conferences sponsored by child-placing agencies.

 

Mr. Lewin received his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 1978 and his B.A. from Franklin and Marshall College in 1971. Mr. Lewin is admitted to practice before the courts of New York State as well as in the United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. He is also a member of the New York State Bar Association.

Edward Cohn was admitted to practice law in 1979 and was an associate in a firm  that specialized in the fields of personal injury and criminal defense law for eight years. He then opened a solo practice, for the next three years before becoming a member of the firm in  1990. During that period of time Mr. Cohn tried criminal and civil matters, as well as arguing numerous appeals.

 

As a member of the firm the primary focus of Mr. Cohn’s work is litigation, including trials, mediations and arbitration, involving personal injury actions, commercial and real estate disputes, as well as trusts and estates. He is a skilled communicator, whether in court or amongst a diverse group of parties. His widespread experience before federal and state, trial and appellate  courts, enables him to respond effectively to our clients’ unique and varied needs.

 

Mr. Cohn received his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 1978 and his B.A. from Binghamton University in 1975. He is admitted to practice law in the United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, as well as in the State of New York.

 

He is a member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association and the New York State Bar Association.

John Lewin

 

John Lewin is a founding member of the firm and has been practicing law for over 30 years specializing in: real estate; commercial leasing and commercial and residential transactions; commercial practice; 1031 exchanges and trusts & estates. In addition to his legal practice Mr. Lewin is a real estate developer and is president of a real estate management company which manages residential apartment buildings in the State of New York and New Jersey.

 

Mr. Lewin has handled numerous real estate transactions including transfers of cooperatives, condominiums, single and multiple family homes, and commercial properties. He represents cooperative corporations and boards of directors and handles commercial leasing for real estate developers and management companies in the New York City metropolitan area.

 

Mr. Lewin received his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 1978 and his B.A. from Washington University of St. Louis, Missouri in 1973. He is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts of New York.

Jesse-CohnJesse Cohn

 

Mr. Cohn has been associated with the firm since 2010.  Mr. Cohn specializes in commercial and residential transactions as well as real estate, personal injury and estate litigation. He has represented clients in connection with numerous real estate transactions including transfers of cooperatives, condominiums, single and multiple family homes, commercial leasing and landlord-tenant matters.

 

Mr. Cohn received his J.D. from New York Law School in 2010 and his B.A. from University at Albany in 2005. He is admitted to practice law in the United States District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, as well as in the State of New York.
